come through a link, bookmark or search engine? the most recent stuff (and whatever you've gotten your grubby hands on, along with really old wrinkly things) on gusset is via the front door.

wanna check out the building site before the swank new development goes up? tread carefully over at front while we change and update and generally get things a little more together.

haven't had the chance to check out the po box (we're out in the country, getting all excited about koalas and mushroom rings (the edible ones, you naughty things!)) but we know we've been accepted into a part time course with cae for a diploma of visual arts. back in melbs jan 13...more then...

we've come home from a lovely day out with loobylu, geekbee and pea (creator of a site for local band gersey) to find that we've scored a double pass to see adaptation. we're thrilled. but after numerous phonecalls, can't find a soul that wants to go. so...super last minute we know, but if you're able to see adaptation tonight (thurs 19th) at cinema nova carlton at 9pm, first person to email us before 8pm is in. for the great unwashed, it'll start screening boxing day in oz.
there's 2 things we'd love, love, love to see in our po box at 9am tomorrow morn - the book that we contributed to, and an acceptance to the diploma of visual arts at cae. cross those fingers, eh?

hopefully, this will be the last post before migration over to moveabletype. at least, fooling around with 2 different blog systems has been happening long enough...time to move on! anyway.
it's well and truly scary when someone that you reckon doesn't know much about you, knows way more that you realise. or maybe they just have that extra sense. "you should go see the gleaners" says meredith. "you'd love it!".
little does she know that we walk up to a movie about people who glean/scavenge/pick other people's stuff with 20 magazines that we found in the alleyway outside a newsagent. it's for an art project/collage thing. honest. then there's that savers (the thrift department store! 1000's of new items daily!) addiction that could well be getting a little out of control considering that in the last month, our tally is: 1 pudding basin, (just like our mums), 1 pink netball skirt, 1 groovy 50's beauty case, 2 cushions, assorted balls of lambswool and mohair, assorted vintage knitting patterns, and about 20 sets of knitting needles. opening hours are memorised.
some other fine gleaning - the "conspicuous consumption" post about halfway down on massdistraction, and our favourite gleaners of all time (sing along...) "making good use of the things that we find, the things that the everyday folk leave behind" - the wombles.
for those who have enquired - no, we don't know yet if we're into the cae for the diploma of visual arts. find out around the 15th...we'll keep you posted.

a selfish reminder of things to see over the next few weeks: photographer robert whitaker at monash gallery of art and new work from graduates at craft arts victoria. there's way too many good things coming up music wise, and some tough choices are being made - we have tix for sleater kinney. we're a little sad we don't have them for jbsx and the yeah yeah yeahs. speaking of which, rolling stone churned out their "women in rock" issue, and received a great letter.

results of interviews for the diploma of visual arts: RMIT - given that the woman examining us wouldn't even utter a hello when we introduced ourselves and their conveyor belt attitude to the whole operation of selecting students, we're not too keen. we get the feeling it's mutual.
NMIT preston campus - after the train ride there and back (over an hour each way), not too keen. interview procedure - "look just show us one thing, anything...yep, that's fine, you're in...got $70?". it was a nice boost to the ego after the bashing we had beforehand. the guy interviewing was real keen on showing us their computing lab after seeing we'd bought the lappie in..first time we've drooled due to the presence of computers, but it was a whole room just chockers with white g4's and those lovely studio screens. mmmm....
CAE - this is the one, methinks. points in their favour - they like, read and remember the stuff that you whack on your carefully thought out application. they love mature age students. they love mature age students that have already done courses with them even more. it's in the middle of the city (degraves coffee! alright!), and the teachers appear genuinely full of beans and enthusiasm. we like that. lots. please, please, please let us in.
